Preparing for gainful employment

This was written for those seeking employment (regardless or experience, but some experience might make this article more relatable)

I think different people have different strategies for finding employment. For those of us lucky enough to have headhunters knocking on our doors I think the effort required is less or close to nil. For the rest of the commoners that need to go through the coliseum of job hunting the process of finding employment and an employer that sparks joy is truly something of urban legend. However, that being said, most of us have bills to pay (If you are a trust fund baby, this article is not for you) and employment is the less risky option as opposed to entrepreneurship.

Jobs are everywhere. Employers need labor in good times and bad to fill seats and produce goods/ services to be sold for revenue. In some cases you could be the good/ service that is being sold (ahem, consulting). If you look at job boards, classifieds and maybe the local lamppost, jobs just seem to be everywhere. So, sometimes it begs the question in bouts of long unemployment, why the hell am I still bumming at home in my underwear terrorizing my neighbors who happen to glance into my home while collecting my daily papers.

Employment is a dating game (for frequent followers of my reading I think I tend to draw upon this reference a bit too often). And in many ways it’s true. You think you have found the love of your life. But that infatuation is one sided, especially for the prestigious Fortune 500 companies…
